My First Helicopter!

If you are aware (by reading my earlier post), you will probably notice that my childhood schedule was packed with events, shows...etc.
Where got time to play masak-masak, tamaguchi and barbie doll (had my first barbie at the age of 12...haha! Comes from poor family is like that-lah).
What more to say LEGO??!?!!?!
Hello.... it is LEGO we are talking about here.
Something that could easily cost you hundreds of dollars.
I'm lucky that I found these handsomes from Darren's hidden cupboard.
Wasn't too fond about it at first. Until I see the outcome. It was amazing!
Darren unwillingly pass the new "Helicopter + Trailer" box set to me.
And I started digging and digging.

Look at all the little parts and those cute little tyres!

Here's the base and some controllers.

Look how it evolves!

It is looking much more like a helicopter now. =D

Taa daa!

Isn't she a beauty?
I totally love it.
Took me 2 hours to finish this, no joke!
At first, I wanted to finish up the whole set.
But after the helicopter, I was totally exhausted.
My back and legs were hurting so badly cause I was sitting on the floor to fix this beauty.
The trailer can wait-lah hor............

Press release again... after a long 16 years!

Was in some newspaper and online article this week.
Found out that the journalist is fantastic!
Great write up.
Picture was great too.
Luckily I didn't have a breakout that day.
Hahaha!

Our dear Management Secretary, Melissa L. and my MD, Andreas V. managed to keep some of the articles for me.
It has been a long time since my last press release.
Still remember the last exposure I've had was at the age of 11.
Thanks for everything boss!

Pirates of the Melawati

Darren couldn't resist the temptation.
He took out the box and clean it up.
He then slowly take out all the pieces at 11pm on a Sunday night.
I was enjoying my "Burning Flame 3" HK series, adoring Bosco Wong and couldn't be bothered about him.
Slowly, I fall asleep.
The next morning when I got up to get ready for work, the ship is there and ready to sail.

Honestly, it looks awesome and detailed.
It has a map, treasure box, gold coins, captain darren, monkey, parrot, sailor, cannon...etc.
Well done! Well done!

Told him, "I want to play next time. I want the space ship!".
He said, "Aiyah... you sure or not? Space ship very complicated lah. You start off with the mini boat first lah!".
My face turned black.

Darren & His Lego Set

Darren showed me all his toys when he was younger to found out that 90% of it was LEGO set.
It ranges from mini boat to space ships.
We were trying to find a place to keep them all - it is not the easiest thing to do, I assure you.
So we ended up keeping it in the wardrobe.
Take a look at the space taken!

He told me that he will keep this for his son.
Here's what I said, "Your son will say this is junk! He might be interested in flying a plane than these."
I guess he just wants to keep it for himself to play when he retire.
Giving it to his son is just an excuse. Hahaha!

I personally think putting it up on ebay will give me quite a good bargain.
Now I know where to go to when I am broke.
Hahahaha!

Superbly Nice Spider Crab

I used to hate eating crab cause it is so messy and difficult to eat.
I thought my front teeth was strong enough and fight with the dead crab.
Ended up, one of my front tooth was chipped.
I've lost the battle to a dead crab.
No manners!
Now I know I am not supposed to use my front teeth to bite off the shell.
I was silly back then. Hehe!
Ever since then, I will not have crab for any dinner session unless someone remove all the shell for me.
So I've chosen crabstick instead. Haha!
Few years later.
Actually approximately 8 years of being a crab-free person, my bro brought folks and I to this place called Unique Seafood located at Petaling Jaya, nearby Jaya One to have spider crab.
It was fantastic and superbly easy to eat!
My bro left the country after that meal and I've wanted to go back there ever since.
But it was too expensive. I cannot afford it myself. =(

Bro got back last Friday and he called on Saturday afternoon saying "Carrom (yeah... that's how he calls me... Carrom instead of Karen... no manners!) today we go out dinner with folks and have spider crab".
My reaction to that statement was "Shyiats... promised sis that I will go to her house for BBQ leh..."
I was thinking really hard to please both side and my appetite also-lah of course.
I wanna have spider crab and at the same time, I can't FFK my sis.
Came up with a superb idea - go to my sis house in the afternoon (just to show face... it's my bro-in-law's session with his colleagues anyway) and ran off to have the long awaited spider crab!

This is how those guys look like before the chef chop them off, cook them and serve them on a plate for us to enjoy.
They are not that good looking-lah... looks like got skin disease or something...

But they taste damn good weh!
And so freaking easy to eat.
They will provide you with a scissor and you can basically use that to cut off the shell.
Imagine that!

I was too busy digging in after the above was served.
So I did not take anymore picture. Haha!
Try it out yourself and you'll love it, I assure you.

The Chair

Can you believe that this chair is much older than me?
It has followed us since young and it is still in good shape.
Uh... actually the metal leg is kinda rusty but mom took the liberty to beautify it.
My sister and I sat on it when we were young.
And now my niece is enjoying her drink on it as well.
I'm sure my mom is proud of it.
Well done, mom! =)

Kampachi @ Equatorial Hotel

Shireen was craving for Sashimi and we have decided to go to Kampachi to try it out.
We went there for lunch before our shopping spree.
Only when we've reached only found out that it was a Wednesday and there's no buffet!
Silly me.

Shireen had a look at their Salmon Sashimi and found out that it is RM 10 per piece!
She almost fell off her chair.
Her face turned black immediately.
Mission failed.
*LOL*

Rating:
Food = Good
Service = Moderate
Parking = Poor (RM 9.50 for 1hr 30mins)

P/S: We ended up @ Shogun, Pyramid to satisfy Shireen's appetite that weekend.

Restoran Kin Kin @ Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman

This place sell the best chilli pan mee!
Well, I don't usually try foreign food (Yeah... chilli pan mee sounds weird to me).
Pan mee is supposed to have soup but this is dry and you eat with dried chilli.
This is not right! =/

I was looking around the restaurant and some lots of handwritting messages on the wall.
Compliments were written all over the restaurant wall, weh! (sorry, forgot to snap a pic on this)
All of it is about this chilli pan mee.
So I have decided to grab a bite of it first before I order 1 for myself.
Fuiyoh... I tell you...
Once you taste it, you'll love it!
That's all I can say.

If you can't take spicy food, you can just put in 1-2 spoonful of chilli.
It will taste good.
Apparently it tastes good without chilli as well, claimed Darren.
If you are a chilli freak, you can put as much as you want.
It's all yours!
I am pretty sure Melissa will sapu the whole jar of dried chilli.
*LOL*

Try this place out.
You should be able to google the location of this place.
If you can't find, Darren can bring you there.
It will cost you 2 bowls of chilli pan mee. =D

Price:
RM 5.30 per bowl

Last day @ Eyeblaster

Today is my last day @ Eyeblaster.
It was tough! No joke at all.
This is the "best-est" working environment with a whole bunch of smart-ass digital people around.

It is indeed a wonderful experience and I will keep it close to my heart.
I am pretty sure we will be in touch again very soon.
Until then, keep in touch!

Those were the days.....

Was watching MJ's concert with my mom last weekend.
And mom started talking about those days when I was young.
She was saying "You were only 9 years old when you first stepped onto the stage."
Then only I found out that my mom actually rejected a DJ, who offered to know me and discuss some sort of deal on my singing career. Hah!
I was laughing and told mom "See... if you did not reject, those famous Malaysian Chinese singers would be calling me Ah Jie now..." Hahahaha!

I was telling Joey about it during our journey to LCCT last Monday.
So I have decided to hunt for the old photos and share it with her and Melissa to have a great laugh.
Thought of sharing a couple of it with all my friends here as well.
Hold on to your chairs, ok!

I think this was taken when I was 7 years old.
Guess where I am "standing"... Gave you a hint there... hahahaha!

Don't remember what occasion this was.
V for Van!

Standard 3 class picture with Puan Shamala.
Yeah... I still remember you Puan Shamala... I wish you well!

Musical performance @ school.

School sports day performance.
Ending pose. Haha!

This was much older. Standard 5 if I am not mistaken.
This was taken during one of our school trip to Pusat Sains Negara.
Notice my nametag colour?
I am from Yellow House!

School gymnastic squad.
I used to be the tallest in class.
Now you know why I stop growing taller. =(

This was my first show @ the age of 9.
I think they were worried that I will be scared so requested my cousin sister to duet with me.
My cousin sister can sing really well... if you know the late Theresa Tang, she sounds like her.

Of course they were wrong.
I totally love the stage and did my own show after that.
Hahaha!

Look at the dress.
Totally adorable and like a princess, hor?
I hate that dress!
Not comfortable at all.

No more princess looking Karen.
This should be at the age of 11.
If I am not mistaken, this was one of the MCA occasion in KL.
Mom designed that skirt and jacket. =)

I was singing a Vivian Chow's song that time.
I still remember that dance move.
Hahahaha!

We were taking some photos to promote my first and last album.
I officially retired at the age of 12.

I was trying to look for the lyric book that I used to carry around at school.
But I couldn't find it.
Not sure if it's still in one of the boxes when we move or we've left it at old house. =(
Wanted to show you how my sister used to translate those chinese songs for me.
That is basically my childhood.
It was kinda interesting and at the same time, I am a A-star student, ok?

Selamat Hari Merdeka!

Saw this at LCCT carpark today after meeting.
Couldn't resist myself from capturing this.
Happy Independence Day, Malaysia!

Finally, I've informed everyone...

Today, 24th August 2009 - I have finally informed all of my clients that I will be leaving my beloved company, Eyeblaster.
It was a tough decision but I think it will be a better career move for me.
Everyone was supportive and I am glad about it.

I will miss my 2 partner in crime and all the jokes & information sharing session with them during office hour and lunch.

I wish everyone the best of luck and keep in touch!

Baby Ashlynn - close to 2 months

Little Ashlynn is getting cuter and cuter each day.
Captured this when we brought Annabelle to the playground and I was making funny faces to make Little Ashlynn smile.
Apparently she wanted milk that time and ended up crying.
*mission failed*

Suzi's Corner @ Jln. Ampang - Cheat My Money!

Darren's friend recommended this place called Suzi's Corner @ Jalan Ampang. We thought of trying it out yesterday for dinner as it was on our way to a friend's house. It looks more like a mamak by the roadside and the place was full of "ang moh". No wonder his friend recommended that place. Maybe she felt like home. She's an ang moh.

We ordered a "big" glass of watermelon juice. Noticed that I've emphasized on the word "big"?
The usual big glass of watermelon juice is about 22cm tall + 6cm wide (roughly). But this is approximately 17cm tall + 6cm wide. It is like 1/2 glass more of the usual small size.

This is not the end! Guess how much it cost....................
RM 8 !!

I almost faint! I couldn't believe it so I ask for the menu to double confirm. The menu stated RM 6 for a big glass. So I confronted the guy and he ask his "manager" about it. They were speaking in Tamil and I have no clue what sort of rubbish explanation they are trying to give me. The manager says "Sorry, we have increased the price but have not change the price on menu. Watermelon price increased so we have to increase it too." Nonsense! Not acceptable!

Their lamb chop isn't that bad and the price is reasonable. You can go there for the food but bring your own drink (if they don't stop you)!

我要学华语 <-- I want to learn Mandarin

我觉得华语是很重要。
因为华语歌是很好唱的。
我觉得memorizing lyrics requires a lot of time.
你们要为我加油!
-----------------------------------------------------------
Translation:
I think Mandarin is very important.
Because Mandarin song is very nice to sing.
I think memorizing lyrics requires a lot of time.
You guys need to support me!
------------------------------------------------------------
To be honest, I have a lot more to say.
But it is so tough!
I know how to pronounce it but I couldn't figure out which character represents the meaning that I want.
*sweat*

- Thanks to Ping Jen for correcting my wrong use of chinese characters -

Karen is Back On!

It has been AGESSSSSSSS since my last post.
I'm not gonna give any reason to make myself look nor feel better as I am guilty for it.

Thanks to CK for checking this out and reminding me about my blog. *Hah!*
Honestly, when I am trying to login - I don't even remember my password!
Now that proves I have not been checking out this page for a long time.
Either that, I've grown older and memory worsen.
Well, I think all of the above applies. Hahahaha!

When I was browsing through to get my hands dirty again, I saw several comments pending and noticed one of it was quite nasty "yadda yadda yadda.... stupid bit*h!"
If it's me years ago, I would have gone crazy and curse the fella.
But surprisingly, I felt sorry for that fella and wonders what makes him so pissed off that he needs to release his tension online...
Oh well... I hope he feels better now... and if he doesn't like it... stop reading... =)

I was tweeting and fb-ing about this earlier, I guess it's worth repeating myself again here:
"The way to happiness is to keep your heart free from hate, your mind from worry. Live simple, expect little, give more. Fill your life with love and scatter sunshine. Forget self, think of others."

Signing off,
Karen M.
